Born and raised in Kobe, Japan, Yukako Shimada studied directing in the most reputable film school in all of Japan, Nihon University of Tokyo. She earned her MFA in Film Production with an editorial emphasis at Chapman University in Orange County, CA.
After graduation, she’s worked on multiple feature films and documentaries including: With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story, a biography on the 91 year old creator of Spider Man & Marvel Comics; Hot Bath an’ a Stiff Drink, assisted film editor Scott; Hill Bruce Almighty: the Journey Within, a feature length documentary sponsored by Coca-Cola; Sake-Bomb, a feature length narrative starring Japanese actor, Gaku Hamada.
She currently lives in West Los Angeles and works as an editor at the famed Stan Winston School of Character Arts, and with actor/producer Jim Belushi.
